CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens open every day, 10am - 4pm. Abbotsbury Tourism is pleased to confirm that Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens will remain open for visitors to enjoy fresh air and exercise during the new month-long lockdown across England.

Please note we will be closing at 2pm for private functions on the following dates: 27th October, 4th & 12th December, 8th, 13th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd & 29th January 2021.

Disabled access


Designated parking is available in the first row of the main car park 50 metres from the Gardens entrance.

Buying Tickets / Entering the Gardens

Those who are able to show documentary identification of disability (i.e. blue / orange badge or similar) will be able to take a carer in free of charge.


Two manual wheelchairs are available free of charge at the main entrance. We do not book chairs out in advance of a visit.


Are located for visitors with disabilities to the rear of the coffee shop at the entrance.


One companion is admitted free of charge per wheelchair user or visually impaired visitor.

Assistance Dogs

Welcomed in all areas. Access to building, coffee shop, gift shop and plant centre – all accessible to manual and electric wheelchairs.

Access to the Gardens

The paths at the Gardens are gravel and some areas are very steep due to the natural topography. There is a recommended wheelchair route, 50% of the 30 acre garden is deemed to be accessible by wheelchair.
